I am returning to Bastrop after three years. The last three years that I have been away, I spent at Hays CISD as an Assistant Principal at Blanco Vista Elementary in San Marcos. It feels great to be home after being away!
I was born and raised in Mexico and my family moved to Chicago when I was in 2nd grade. My bachelor’s degree is from Northeastern Illinois University and my master’s in Education from the University of Illinois in Chicago. I obtained my principal’s certification from Concordia University-Texas. I began my teaching experience in Chicago, IL as a 5-8th grade science teacher. I worked for Chicago Public Schools for four years then moved to Texas. I then worked as a 5th grade bilingual teacher for five years at CCIS. I loved being in the classroom and in my heart I’ll always consider myself a teacher first.
My leadership style is to facilitate an ongoing, open dialogue that maintains student achievement at the forefront. Building relationships is at the core of my beliefs; for students, staff, parents and community partnerships. I look forward to getting to know you so we can work as a team in continued success for all CCIS students.
Please stop by the CCIS office next time you are on campus and say hello!
