I am very fortunate and proud to be the principal of Cedar Creek Intermediate School. I have been the principal of this wonderful school since we opened in the spring of 2004 with 530 students. Today, we have grown to over 730 students who are taught by forty-four caring teachers.
I grew up in Lubbock, Texas where I graduated with honors from Lubbock High School, played on the soccer team, played violin in the orchestra, and worked part time in a restaurant. I graduated from Texas Tech in 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a minor in special education. During college, I worked with mentally challenged adults and played in the university’s orchestra. I began my teaching career in Canutillo, Texas and West Oso, Texas where I taught all subjects to fifth and sixth graders. I began teaching at math at Bastrop Intermediate School in 1995. In 1999, I served as a curriculum facilitator and Title I math teacher. I was also named “Elementary Teacher of the Year for BISD” that year. From the fall of 2000 through the fall of 2004, I served as an assistant principal at Cedar Creek Intermediate Middle School. I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Prairie View A & M in 2003.
I feel very blessed to work and live in Bastrop with my three daughters and supportive husband. We enjoy the country life and the people of our community. I am here to serve our community. I have an open door policy, and I will do whatever it takes to work with teachers, parents, and students to facilitate a successful school experience all children.
